Coroner Investigates Death Following Emergency

A provincial inquiry is underway after a woman in her 40s passed away on Saturday morning at a local hospital. She had been rushed to the facility the previous day following a health crisis at the New Brunswick Women’s Correctional Centre in Miramichi.

Incident Followed Virtual Court Appearance

According to details released by the Department of Justice and Public Safety, the individual was in custody on remand prior to participating in a virtual court session on Friday. She was granted release during the proceedings and was waiting for transport to return home when she fell ill.

Correctional facility personnel summoned emergency medical services to transport her to the hospital. Authorities confirmed her death occurred the following morning. Officials noted that Coroner Services has been notified and will investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

Identity Withheld by Request

The identity of the deceased is not being made public at this time out of respect for her family’s wishes, as stated in the official release: “At the request of her next of kin, the name is not being released at this time.”

Police Request Public Assistance

The Miramichi Police Force is asking for the public’s assistance to find a stolen vehicle that vanished early this week from a neighborhood situated on the south side of the Miramichi River.

Vehicle Details

According to a news release distributed by police on Thursday, the vehicle is a black 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid. It was taken from the Ellis Street apartments on Tuesday morning and was last spotted at approximately 8 a.m. that day.

Identifying Features

Law enforcement noted that the vehicle bears the personalized license plate “AMBER K.” Authorities added that the image distributed with their release is strictly for reference and does not display the exact vehicle that was taken.
