Keith Maurice Martin Sentenced to Life in Miramichi Court for Murder
A Maine man received a life sentence in Miramichi court for second-degree murder and attempted murder following a 2024 arrest and two-year-old shooting.

In the Miramichi Court of King’s Bench on Tuesday, Justice Stephen Doucet ordered Keith Maurice Martin to serve a life sentence for the second-degree murder of 48-year-old Mark Dwayne Mitchell. The 50-year-old resident of Maine will not be permitted to apply for parole until 14 years have passed. He has remained in custody following his arrest in 2024.
Additional Convictions and Trial Background
Along with the murder charge, Martin was handed a concurrent nine-year term for attempting to murder Sylvio Savoie of Neguac. The legal outcome comes after a 23-day trial by jury that ended with guilty verdicts on both counts on June 11. The charges stemmed from events two years prior in Esgenoôpetitj First Nation, where Mitchell was killed and a second man was targeted, sparking a manhunt across the community.

Help Locate Stolen Vehicle: Black 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid Missing from Ellis Street
Miramichi Police are seeking public assistance to locate a black 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid with license plate AMBER K, stolen Tuesday from Ellis Street.
Police Request Public Assistance
The Miramichi Police Force is asking for the public’s assistance to find a stolen vehicle that vanished early this week from a neighborhood situated on the south side of the Miramichi River.
Vehicle Details
According to a news release distributed by police on Thursday, the vehicle is a black 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid. It was taken from the Ellis Street apartments on Tuesday morning and was last spotted at approximately 8 a.m. that day.
Identifying Features
Law enforcement noted that the vehicle bears the personalized license plate “AMBER K.” Authorities added that the image distributed with their release is strictly for reference and does not display the exact vehicle that was taken.
